Who We Are
Founded in 1994 originally as the Central Coast Children’s Choir, CCYC provides our youth in San Luis Obispo County with the extraordinary opportunity of experiencing the joy of singing in live choral performances while receiving a high-quality music education.
Serving boys and girls from ages 3 to 18 years, Central Coast Youth Chorus singers are divided into several choruses: Music Makers, Aria, Cantate, and Grace Notes. Choristers learn from experienced music educators under the artistic direction of Melody Svennungsen and associate directors Inga Swearingen and Susannah Fletcher.
A highly-respected and valuable asset in San Luis Obispo County, the Central Coast Youth Chorus sings with premier performing groups in the community, including the San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts Ensemble, Cuesta Master Chorale, SLO Symphony, and Opera SLO.
CCYC often performs at benefits for non-profit organizations and other local groups such as SLO Children’s Museum, Hospice of SLO County, and CASA SLO.
During the last three decades, CCYC singers have been chosen to represent California in National and Western State honor choirs in Chicago, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Florida, and New York.
